How are your study skills?

Yep, that’s right: STUDY SKILLS.  The extra work you do to help you get ready for tests and exams so you can show your knowledge to the best of your ability.

Or do you cram as much into your brain as you possibly can the night before a test and hope for the best?

You feel like you’re constantly behind the 8-ball.

Consequently it feels like your parents and teachers are always on your case and your school report is full of lower grades and comments like, “More effective revision for tests would lift Fred’s grade”.

It all totally stresses you out, doesn’t it?

You also might be a parent reading this and know that your child needs help with their study skills but you don’t know how.

Or a teacher who knows that if some of your students had some extra tools in their study toolbox they would be much more successful in tests and exams.

YOU HAVE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE.

This was me in Year 11…I had two choices really, leave school and get a job or get my act together, get organised and do the work to get me through my senior school years.

Luckily I chose the second option, because it’s enabled me to do some pretty awesome things as a result….including working as a professional musician for more years than I like to count!

I studied psychology at uni then went on to complete a post graduate diploma of education but rather than work in a classroom environment I started my own tutoring and mentoring business.  Over the last twenty years I’ve worked with countless kids to help them develop rockstar study skills and awesome organisation while teaching them how to stay motivated and manage anxiety.

One thing I have learned FOR SURE over the years is that great study skills don’t come naturally to everyone.

Trying to cram a whole bunch of information in your head, all in one go, can be pretty ineffective when you don’t have a good system to follow that will help you retain it.

This is where I have a great solution for you. Over the years I have taught heaps of students, like you, a series of systems to help them study effectively for tests and exams. I’ve broken these systems down and developed a series of training videos and resources so that you can learn how to study like a rockstar too.

It’s called Study Skills for Rockstars and it will teach you the skills and simple systems to:

  1. Stop pulling all-nighters before tests and exams
  2. Feel like you are actually retaining the information you’re trying to learn
  3. Make sure you have time to properly relax AND get a good night’s sleep

What will this mean?

  • Less exam and test related anxiety because you’ve had some rest and feel confident
  • Better understanding of which study methods work best for you
  • Less time needed for exam and test study because you’ll be more efficient at it

When you know how to efficiently study for tests and exams you’ll be able to relax about them because you won’t be worrying about whether or not you’ll actually remember any of the answers. You’ll feel more confident than ever about your ability, not only to pass but, to do well.

Becky provides the support to bridge the gap between school and home. My son loved working with her each week as she reinforced confidence in his own abilities, helped him with organisational skills and provided the structure to meet deadlines, etc.

Becky’s mentoring allowed me to provide a Mother’s support rather than nagging to do homework and study, taking a lot of stress and anxiety out of year 12 for both my son and all the family.

What’s included?

Instant access to all three sections.

Having worked with hundreds of senior school students over the years I’ve developed a series of comprehensive video lessons and written guides that will teach you how to apply six effective study techniques.

You’ll develop an understanding of how memory works and which learning styles work best for you.

By working through the material you’ll know exactly how best to study for every subject and be able to confidently apply the study techniques for yourself.

You’ll also get regular emails once you sign up to ensure that you get the most out of the course.

Part One – Homework Vs Study

Study is something that’s extra to regular homework so it’s easy to put it off and put it off until it absolutely needs to be done.  This usually means, last minute, the night before your test or exam. However, in reality, this is far from the best time to be trying to cram that information in your memory.

In Part One I’ll be teaching you all about how your memory works so that you understand when the best time to study is and how to plan it into your already busy schedule.

Part Two – Study Techniques

Now that you understand how your memory works I’ll be teaching you six effective techniques that you can use to study for tests and exams.

I’ll also help you to figure out which techniques are going to work best for you and tell you about common study pitfalls to avoid.

Part Three – Study Techniques in Action

It’s all well and good for me to tell you about the different techniques and how to use them but I’ve gone a step further to ensure that you fully understand how to implement the study techniques for yourself.

I’ve developed some real life examples and resources so that you can see how each technique is applied to an actual study scenario.

Having been identified as falling through the cracks at school, unable to sit still and concentrate in class and rarely finishing a piece of work, my daughter was recommended Becky as a tutor.

Becky taught her how to manage her time, structure her work, take relevant notes and prepare and revise for tests.

The results have been extraordinary!!  Along with the skills she has learnt the most fundamental thing Becky has taught her is to believe in herself.  She is now a confident and happy student, achieving amazing results in her chosen subjects, with clear goals of where she is going and what is needed to achieve them.

We cannot thank Becky enough and I regularly recommend her when I hear of others struggling to reach their potential, as we are so thankful someone recommended her to us.

In case we haven’t met yet:

I’m a mentor, professional musician and loving mum of two daughters from Adelaide, Australia. I have a passion for travel and adventure, entertaining friends, physical fitness and a fascination with all things to do with the brain and how it works.

I have a “busy brain” that was diagnosed as “hyperactivity” (before the days of the ADHD label) when I was a toddler. It’s not easy to focus on one thing with a busy brain, which was evident in my early school reports. I decided to “train my brain” and teach myself strategies to help with my concentration and organisation. The result saw me win a scholarship to study music at Adelaide University before starting my final year at high school and I’ve never looked back.

For more than twenty years I’ve been working with high school students to help them achieve their best by teaching and mentoring them to develop awesome study skills supported by great organisation and concentration.

To help me reach more students I’ve packaged up everything I know about students and organisation to develop Organisation for Rock Stars.  Organisation is an essential key to developing great study skills

As a parents we wanted the best for our children and we found that in Becky Blake. She worked with both our children as senior high school students with excellent results.

Becky has the knowledge and skills, not to mention the patience, to instil confidence and technique as she guides and teaches organisation for exams and assignments; which for some may be overwhelming.
